Beware of Cold Callers offering to fix your computer

It seems there has been a rise in cold calling offers to fix your PC. It has come about because the cost of global telephone call has massively reduced with the use of IP Telephony. IP Telephony uses the internet to make the international element of the telephone call so the only cost is now a local call.
How it works
The caller phones offering to fix your PC but install fake antivirus products that provide little or no protection. However, these criminals (because that’s what they are) then charge as much as £80 for the privilege.
David Harley, director of malware intelligence at ESET, said: “Fake or pirated anti-virus is a growing problem.
Traditionally these products where installed by pop-ups and through advertising but it has now become so cheap it’s just as easy to call you direct.
