Apple iPad 2 to ship 25 March

The new iPad 2 is set to go on sale in the UK on the 25 March 2011. It boasts the new Dual Core A5 CPU making it twice as fast as the current iPad.

Now 33% thinner than the iPad, it’s only 8.8mm thin compared to 13.4mm thickness of original iPad says; apparently thinner than iPhone 4.

The iPad 2 has smart covers that auto sleep and wakes as it’s removed. It can also be used as cleaning wipe. It’s a flexible screen cover rather than full case so doesn't add weight or bulk like other cases.

The device will ship with iOS 4.3 allows the iPhone 4 to be used as a portable wifi router.

The iPad 2 also ships with 2 cameras, one forward facing and one rear facing.

The battery life remains the same at 10 hours as does the price structure although there's no confirmation as to impact of the UK VAT Increase.

It comes in Black or White and is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

iMovie is now available for the iPad and has multi tracking audio recording. It offers precision editing for fine grained video editing which can be uploaded to HD file sharing sites. It will probably work best on the iPad screen rather than iPhone's small, by comparison, screen.
