Why can’t I open PDFs in IE10

I came across a really odd problem today in that I could not open any PDFs from the internet in Internet Explorer 10.

To fix the problem, follow the below steps:

  1. Close Internet Explorer
  2. Open the registry editor. In the search box, or Run window, type 
    regedit

    and hit enter

  3. Locate the following key Change the registry key

“HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\TabProcGrowth”
from 0 to 1

Now restart IE10 and all should be well.
